The fatal collision occurred around 6:40 a.m. on October 6 at the intersection of Brian Road and U.S. Highway 87.

Howard County, TX – A woman was killed and her 13-year-old passenger was injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Howard County, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal collision occurred around 6:40 a.m. on October 6 at the intersection of Brian Road and U.S. Highway 87.
DPS said Cheri Lynette Haechten, 36, of Big Spring, was driving a 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander and had stopped at the intersection, waiting to turn southbound onto US 87. She failed to yield the right-of-way and was struck by a northbound 2025 Ford F-250.
Haechten was taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center, where she later died. Her 13-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
The Ford driver was uninjured in the accident.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
