San Marcos, TX. – A Seguin High School student is dead following a multi-vehicle traffic collision on Highway 123 near San Marcos, according to the San Marcos Police Department.

The deadly crash took place shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24 on Highway 123 near Lovelady Lane.

The victim, identified as Chloe Belicek, 17, of Seguin, succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash on Thursday, July 25. Reportedly, Belicek was a rising senior at Seguin High School and had been named an All-State softball player by the Texas Girls Coaches Association early this summer.

Preliminary investigation revealed the incident began with a minor crash involving a Ford 4-door passenger car and another vehicle. The Ford became disabled on the roadway while the other vehicle managed to pull off the roadway.

The driver of the Ford exited the disabled vehicle but Belicek remained in the front seat.

Moments later, a Dodge pickup truck crashed into the Ford.

Belicek was taken to Ascension Seton Hays with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries the next day and was pronounced dead.

The operator of the Dodge was taken to Ascension Seton Hays with non-life-threatening injuries.

The San Marcos Police Department is investigating the collision.
