Ward County, TX — One person was killed following a two-vehicle traffic collision on SH 115 in Ward County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

DPS said the deadly accident happened at 3:20 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, along State Highway 115 at mile marker 389, and involved a 2009 Freightliner truck with a trailer and a 2017 Jeep Wrangler.

According to DPS, 30-year-old Christian Reyes was driving the Jeep Wrangler southbound on SH 115. The Freightliner truck, operated by 36-year-old Aldo Jesus Corrales Orduno, was also facing southbound on the improved shoulder of the highway.

Authorities said Aldo Orduno was attempting to make a U-turn right in front of the Jeep, leading to the collision.

Reyes, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to DPS.

Orduno was wearing a seatbelt at the time and was not injured.

The collision remains under investigation.
