El Paso, TX – A driver was killed in a multi-vehicle collision at an intersection in Northeast El Paso on Sunday morning, according to the El Paso Police Department.

The wreck happened at about 7 a.m. January 12, at Gateway North Boulevard and Sean Haggerty Drive.

According to police, Cody Lewis Vaughn, 31, a Northeast resident, was sitting at a red light on Gateway North Boulevard in his 2018 Hyundai Elantra when he was struck from the behind by a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado operated by 37-year-od Juan Manuel Padilla Rivas, of Anthony, New Mexico.

The car was then pushed into the path of a 2017 Toyota RAV4 operated by 39-year-old Christian Jose Ramirez, of Northeast El Paso.

Vaughn was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The extent of the injuries sustained by the other drivers was not specified.

According to police, Rivas’ speed is believed to have played a role in the incident.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation.
