Amarillo, TX – One person was killed and another injured after a pickup truck and a semi-truck collided head-on on Loop 335 in Randall County Wednesday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The accident was reported at about 12:35 p.m. on August 28 on Loop 335 about five miles east of Amarillo.
According to DPS, Javier Castillo, 62, of Planview was driving a 2005 Kenworth truck tractor/semi-trailer southbound on Loop 335 while Cyrus Fields, 75, of Amarillo, was driving a 2015 Ford F-150 heading northbound.
For some reason, the pickup veered over into the southbound lane and collided head-on with the semi, DPS said.

The impact pushed the pickup into the east side ditch where it overturned and caught fire, becoming fully engulfed, while the semi-truck blocked the northbound and southbound lanes.
Cyrus Fields was pronounced dead at the scene by Randall County Justice of the Peace Kyle Balke.
Javier Castillo was transported to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with non-life-threatening Injuries.
No additional details regarding the accident were provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
