Christopher Wheeler was transported to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo with serious injuries

Barnhart, TX. – A San Angelo man was killed in a head-on collision in Barnhart on Friday evening.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened around 4:34 p.m. at U.S. Highway 67 and North First Street.
52-year-old Christopher Michael Wheeler was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Raider westbound on U.S. 67 when he allowed the vehicle to cross over into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado.
The driver of the Silverado, 52-year-old David Brent Poindexter, of San Angelo, was killed in the accident.
Wheeler, a resident of Boerne, was transported to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo with serious injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
