The collision occurred at about 2:05 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near S. Cooper Street and involved a car and an 18-wheeler.

Arlington, TX – The police are investigating a deadly fiery traffic collision that left one person dead on Interstate 20 in Arlington early Saturday morning.

The collision occurred at about 2:05 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near S. Cooper Street and involved a car and an 18-wheeler.

Investigators believe that a 2024 Hyundai Elantra was traveling at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended the 18-wheeler. The impact caused the Hyundai to catch on fire.

The Arlington Fire Department crews responded to the scene, extinguished the flames, and found the charred body of the driver inside the vehicle. The driver was declared dead at the scene.

The name of the deceased was not immediately released.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt in the incident.

The accident remains under investigation.
