The Chevy driver turned right to avoid an oncoming Nissan and hit the Ram pickup truck
Jasper County, TX. – Dustin Spears, 44, has been identified as the Louisiana man who died in a car crash near Buna in Jasper County on…. morning.
According to local police, the accident happened around 4:45 a.m. on Highway 62 near County Road 784.
Spears was driving a Ram pickup truck southbound on the highway when a Chevrolet pickup truck behind him tried to pass him in a no-passing zone.
The Chevy driver turned right to avoid an oncoming Nissan and hit the Ram pickup truck.
Spears drove into a ditch before crashing into some trees.
The Many, Louisiana, man died at the scene.
The Nissan drove off the road and hit a tree while trying to avoid a head-on crash. The driver was not injured.
The Chevy driver, Liborio Reyes, 38, of Jasper, and his adult passenger were not hurt.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
