Lubbock, TX – The Lubbock Police Department is investigating a traffic collision that left one person with serious injuries near a Lubbock intersection on Monday morning.
The accident happened at about 10:44 a.m. on December 30 in the area of Erskine Avenue and North Loop 289 near the Stripes.
Lubbock police said 36-year-old Gregg Vargas was working near his semi-truck when he was struck by an SUV.
According to LPD, an SUV operated by William Nelson,75, was backing out of a parking space when it struck Vargas and the semi-truck.
Vargas sustained serious injuries and was transported to University Medical Center for treatment.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
