Houston, TX – A man has been arrested in connection to the hit-and-run that left an infant dead Wednesday evening in Houston, according to the police.

Isiah Martinez, 19, was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid and driving while intoxicated.

The deadly accident happened around 6:35 p.m., June 11, in the 7600 block of Cook Road at the intersection of Corona Lane.

Police said a gray Acura TL was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed while a gray Nissan Maxima was at a stop sign at the intersection. The Nissan moved into the intersection and was struck by the Acura.

An 11-month-old boy in the Nissan was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child’s mother, 27, sustained minor injuries in the accident. She was driving the Nissan at the time of the accident.

The driver and passenger of the Acura fled the scene on foot. The passenger was located and convinced the driver, Martinez, to return to the scene.

Martinez was impaired and was arrested and charged.

The police are investigating the accident.

Police said a car with an infant inside was struck by an alleged drunk driver.
