Lampasas, TX – The Texas DPS has released the names of the victims killed in a two-vehicle traffic collision on US-281 in Lampasas early Wednesday.

The DPS identified the victims as Jacinto Gudino Duran, 31, of  Copperas Cove,  45-year-old Mani Arvind, 40-year-old Pradeepa Arvind, 17-year-old Andril Arvind, and a 23-year-old woman from Copperas Cove.

Jacinto Duran was operating the Cadillac and was with the 23-year-old female passenger in the vehicle.

Mani was driving the Kia with Pradeepa and Andril in the vehicle.

According to the DPS,  an initial investigation revealed that Duran was driving the Cadillac southbound on US 281 when the right rear tire of the car is believed to have blown out, causing it to traveling into oncoming traffic lanes and collided with a Kia Telluride, operated by Mani.

Lampasas, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a two-vehicle vehicle traffic collision that left five people dead on US 281 in Lampasas early Wednesday morning.

According to the DPS, the deadly accident occurred at about 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14 on northbound US-281 near milepost 406.

Authorities said the crash involved a 2004 Cadillac CTS and a Kia Telluride.

An initial investigation revealed the Cadillac was driving south on US 281 when the right rear tire is believed to have blown out.

The tire blow-out caused the Cadillac to enter into the side skid and cross into the northbound lanes and into the path of the Kia.

The Kia struck the passenger side of the Cadillac.

According to the DPS, the driver of the Cadillac and a female passenger were killed in the crash.

The driver of the Kia and their two passengers were also killed in the crash.

No additional details regarding the crash were provided.

The incident remains under investigation.
