Jacoby Shoemaker Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Denton County

Denton, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a deadly motorcycle versus car accident on SH-114 in Denton County Friday late night, according to a report.

The deadly accident happened on August 2, 2024, at 11:28 p.m. on State Highway 114 near Winding Meadows Drive, and involved a 2007 Yamaha YZF motorcycle and a 2017 Ford Fiesta.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the Ford Fiesta, operated by Pedro Huerta Jr., 26, of Justin, was stopped at a red traffic light in the westbound lanes. The motorcycle, operated by Jacoby James Shoemaker, 21, of Justin, was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed and crashed into the rear end of Ford.

Jacoby Shoemaker sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Denton County Medical Examiner.

Pedro and his passenger were not injured in the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.
