Arlington, TX – A hit-and-run suspect, identified as Nathan Vaughan, 33, has been arrested after hitting and killing two people along East Lamar Boulevard in Arlington late Sunday night.

According to Arlington Police, 22-year-old Jahlil Royale Kirkland and a 23-year-old woman were walking on the sidewalk along East Lamar Boulevard near Corporate Drive when a Chevrolet Malibu left the roadway and struck them from behind at about 11:30 p.m. on December 15.

Jahlil and the woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

Vaughan did not stop after hitting the pedestrians.

Arlington police said on the night of the incident, Crime Stoppers received information, including images of the vehicle and license tag number, regarding a Malibu with heavy front-end damage parked outside a bar in the 300 block of Great Southwest Parkway in Grand Prairie.

After identifying the owner of the Malibu as Vaughan, the investigators used traffic flock cameras to track the vehicle’s movements on the night of the collision. The Malibu’s movements, according to the police, were consistent with the time of the accident.

The vehicle as well as Vaughan were located at a home in Grand Prairie on Tuesday, December 17.

Police say Vaughan said he thought he struck a light pole on that night.

Vaughan was arrested on unrelated standing charges and later, the two new charges regarding collision involving death were added.

The incident remains under investigation.
