The fatal collision occurred around 9:05 p.m. on December 3 on Interstate 20 near milepost 221.

Mitchell County, TX – A Louisiana man was killed in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday night in Mitchell County, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal collision occurred around 9:05 p.m. on December 3 on Interstate 20 near milepost 221.
DPS said James B. Creighton, 61, of Many, Louisiana, was driving a 2024 Chevrolet 1500 pickup westbound when he approached traffic that had stopped because of power line maintenance.
Creighton tried to brake and take evasive action, but he crashed into a 2018 Great Dane semi-trailer that was being towed by a Volvo truck tractor.
The impact caused the Chevrolet to overturn.
Creighton died at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The Volvo driver, a 32-year-old Grand Prairie man, and his passenger, a 51-year-old from Fort Worth, were uninjured in the accident. They were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
The weather was clear, and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
