Cooke County, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the driver FedEx driver who died in a multi-vehicle traffic collision near Valley View late last month.

The Texas DPS identified the deceased driver as Jordan Daniel Bennett, 34, from Edmond, OK.

The DPS also identified the injured parties as David Camacho, 37, from Denton, and Allan Lopez, 50, from Houston.

The deadly multi-vehicle collision occured at at 3:59 a.m. on September 27, 2024 in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Valley View.

According to The DPS,  A preliminary investigation indicated that three vehicles – a 2000 Peterbilt 379 towing a dump trailer, a 2011 Toyota Camry, and a 2014 Freightliner Cascadia towing a box trailer –  were stopped due to traffic.

Bennett, who was driving a 2022 Freightliner towing a box trailer, failed to control its speed and rear-ended the Peterbilt 379. The impact caused Peterbilt to rear-end the Camry, which in turn rear-ended the Cascadia.

The 2022 Freightliner caught fire following the collision.

Bennet was pronounced dead at the scene. David Camacho, who was operating the 2000 Peterbilt 379, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville.

The driver of the Toyota Camry, Allan Lopez, was transported to Medical City Denton with serious injuries.

The driver of the Cascadia, Michael Wilcox, 52, of Rosye City, was not injured in the accident.

Cooke County, TX – According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver of a FedEx tractor-trailer is dead following a multi-vehicle crash and fuel spill in Denton Friday morning.

As per the DPS, the deadly accident happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Valley View.

DPS said three vehicles,  including a passenger vehicle, a tractor-trailer, and a rock hauler, were involved in the accident.

DPS confirmed that the driver of the FedEx tractor-trailer died in the accident. The name of the victim was not immediately released.

No other injuries were reported in the incident.

The incident initially closed the northbound and southbound lanes of I-35 near  Hockley Creek Road. The southbound lanes have since reopened but the northbound lanes remain closed as crews at these scene work on cleaning spilled fuel and oil.

The incident remains under investigation.
