The deadly accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on October 10 in the 1500 block of W. State Street near the intersection of McKinley Street.

Garland, TX – A man was hit and killed by a Garland police officer Friday morning in Garland, according to the police.
The deadly accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on October 10 in the 1500 block of W. State Street near the intersection of McKinley Street.
Police said the officer was traveling eastbound on the street when they struck a truck that was stopped in the eastbound lanes. 32-year-old Juan Pablo Rios Aguilar, of Garland, was standing at the front of the truck and was also struck by the officer.
The truck was blocking the entire eastbound lane of traffic, and its lights were off at the time of the accident. It was also dark at the time of the accident.
Aguilar was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The officer was taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released.
The Garland police are investigating the accident.
