Odem, TX – An 80-year-old man, identified as Larry Wilkerson from Odem, was killed in a collision involving in a two-car traffic collision near Odem late last month, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The deadly collision happened at about 2:22 p.m. on November 27, on Highway 77 just north of Odem.
According to the DPS, Wilkerson was driving southbound on Highway 77 just north of Odem. A Chevrolet C35 was also traveling southbound just ahead of him on the road.
DPS said Wilkerson allegedly lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the back of the Chevrolet and traveled onto the inside shoulder. The Chevrolet stopped on the outside shoulder.
Larry Wilkerson of Odem, 80, was pronounced dead last week by Judge Danny Garza after suffering major injuries in the crash, according to the office.
Wilkerson sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision and was later pronounced dead, DPS said.
No additional information was provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
