Orange County, TX – The man who was killed Sunday morning in a bicycle accident in Orange County has been identified as 59-year-old Lawrence Claypool of Vidor, according to the Texas DPS.
The deadly accident happened around 11:50 a.m. on July 27 on FM 105 near FM 1132.
DPS said Claypool was riding a bicycle on the improved shoulder when he crossed the roadway in front of a southbound Ford F-150 and was struck by the Ford’s passenger side mirror.
Claypool was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died.
The driver and a passenger in the Ford were uninjured in the accident.
The DPS is investigating the accident.

Orange County, TX – A cyclist was killed Sunday morning in a traffic accident in Orange County, just south of Vidor, according to the Texas DPS.
The deadly accident happened around 11:51 a.m. on July 27 on FM 105.
DPS said a bicyclist was riding on the improved shoulder when he crossed the roadway in front of a southbound Ford F-150. He was then struck by the Ford’s passenger side mirror.
The cyclist was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released.
The driver and a passenger in the Ford were uninjured in the accident.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
