The deadly collision happened at approximately 1:45 p.m. on September 19  along State Highway 349, mile marker 300.

Martin County, TX – Two young adults died Thursday afternoon after the car they were riding in collided with a semi-truck on State Highway 349 in Martin County,  Texas Department of Public Safety said in a press release.

The deadly collision happened at approximately 1:45 p.m. on September 19  along State Highway 349, mile marker 300.

According to the DPS, a preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Freightliner semi-truck with trailer was heading northbound on State Highway349 near mile marker 300. The semi-truck had stopped in the inside lane of the highway and was preparing to turn west into a private drive when a
2012 Jeep Wrangler traveling northbound on SH 349 in the inside lane rear-ended the semi-truck trailer.

Both the driver and passenger of the Jeep died at the scene. The DPS identified the victims as Shelby Carroll, 19, of Huffmann and Lorin Parks, 20, of Paducah.

No further details regarding the incident were released to the public. The accident remains under investigation.
