Mahmoud Abbad Killed in Collision with International Truck on US 285

**Mahmoud Abbad Killed, Benjamin Hernandez Injured in Reeves County Collision on Highway 285**

Reeves County, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the person who died after a semi-truck struck a vehicle on Highway 285 in Reeves County on Saturday morning as Mahmoud M Abbad, 56, of Pecos.

The driver of the International truck, identified as 41-year-old Benjamin Raul Hernandez of Midland was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Reeves County, TX – One person was killed and another was injured following a two-vehicle collision over the weekend in Reeves County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS said the fatal accident occurred at about 7:43 a.m. Saturday, October 12, US Highway 285 at mile marker 342.
According to DPS, a preliminary investigation revealed that a 2024 International truck was traveling southbound on US 285 while a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox was heading northbound on the 285.

For some reason, the semi-truck veered off the roadway. The driver drove back to the roadway and the truck began to spin out and hit the Chevrolet Equinox.

The Equinox caught fire following the collision.

According to the DPS, one person was killed in the accident. The driver of the International truck was hospitalized with minor injuries.

This accident remains under investigation.
