Houston, TX – A 66-year-old man was killed after his vehicle was hit by two other cars along Eastex Freeway in Houston early Friday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.

The deadly collision happened at about 3:18 a.m. on October 25 along the Eastex Freeway at Crosstimbers.

Houston police said that a man was driving a white Nissan Versa southbound on I-69 when he struck a black Ford Explorer.  The impact forced Explorer to go over the median and overturn. The Explorer was then struck by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

The 66-year-old man operating the Explorer was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Chevrolet pickup truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The other two drivers were not injured in the collision. Authorities say the driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication.

The freeway was closed for several hours and traffic was backed up for miles.

The accident remains under investigation.
