Howard County, Texas — A bicyclist was hit and killed by a vehicle in Howard County late Saturday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The deadly Howard County bicycle accident happened at about 11:38 p.m. on the Interstate Highway 20 north service road near mile marker 187.
DPS said 18-year-old Joshua Eilenberger was driving a 2001 Ford ZX2 westbound on the IH-20 north service road near mile marker 187 when he struck a bicyclist who was also traveling westbound.
The bicyclist was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical in Big Spring where he was pronounced dead.
Reports indicate that the bicyclist was wearing dark-colored clothing at the time of the incident no lighting equipment was found on the bicycle. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet.
No additional information is available at this time. The deadly incident remains under investigation.
