Smith County, TX – The authorities have identified the driver killed early Wednesday in a crash involving three vehicles on TX-31 as Maria Hernandez, 58, of Tyler.
According to Texas DPS, Hernandez was the driver of an SUV that collided with a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler on TX-31, near FM 2908 just after midnight.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Cesar Efrain Viramontes-Cocolon, 22, of Tyler was injured in the crash.
Authorities say Viramontes showed signs of intoxication. He is charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle.
Initial investigation indicated that Viramontes swerved into oncoming traffic leading to the collision.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

Smith County, TX – The Texas DPS is investigating a rollover traffic collision involving three vehicles on TX-31 that left one person dead and one other injured early Wednesday, according to a report.
According to the DPS, the deadly accident happened around midnight on Highway 31, near Farm-to-Market Road 2908, about five miles east of Tyler.
Smith County Emergency Services District 2 firefighters responded to the scene and located three vehicles involved in the wreck.

According to the news release by the Texas DPS, one person was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim was not immediately released.
DPS troopers said one person from a second vehicle was transported to a hospital in unknown condition, adding that the driver of the third car was “okay”.
The road was shut down for several hours but reopened by 6:00 a.m., the DPS said.
