Mark Anthony Lopez Killed and Octavio Morales Injured in Pecos County Two-Vehicle Crash on IH 20
Pecos County, Texas – One person was killed and another was injured Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash in Pecos County, according to the authorities.
The fatal crash happened on February 6, on Interstate Highway 20 near mile marker 320.
Authorities said a Pecos County Sheriff’s Deputy tried to stop 32-year-old Mark Anthony Lopez Jr. for a traffic stop in Sheffield. Lopez pulled over initially before driving away heading westbound on IH-20. Lopez tried to turn around in the center median while at the same time, 56-year-old Octavio Morales was driving a semi-truck with a trailer eastbound.
Morales tried to avoid Lopez by braking before crossing the shoulder and into the southbound barrow ditch. Lopez, however, hit Morales.
Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Morales was taken to Iraan Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
