San Angelo, Texas – The motorcyclist who was killed on Tuesday after rear-ending an 18-wheeler in San Angelo has been identified as Nicholas Denmar Johnson, 45, of Aurora, Colorado, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 3:10 p.m., on April 9, on US 87 near Brodax Lane.

DPS said Johnson was riding a 2020 KTM 1290DGT motorbike behind a 2005 Freightliner towing a semi-trailer. He failed to control his speed and rear-ended the semi-trailer as the truck driver slowed to turn off the highway onto Brodax Lane.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck, 58-year-old Olegario Valdez of San Angelo was uninjured in the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
