Montley County, TX. – 71-year-old Richard Piper, of Roaring Springs, has been identified as the man who was killed in a car crash on Sunday night in Motley County.
According to local police, the accident occurred on State Highway 70 near FM 864 at around 8:40 p.m.
Piper was driving a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck and had stopped in the northbound lane with its head and tail lamps off when the truck was rear-ended by a 2001 Lexus passenger car driven by 25-year-old Joclynne Clarkson-Smith.
Piper was taken to Crosbyton Clinic Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Clarkson Smith was taken to the hospital with critical injuries for treatment.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
