Odessa, TX – The 9-year-old boy who was killed in a car accident on Thursday morning in Odessa has been identified as Rudy Ramirez Jr, according to a local news source.

The fatal accident happened around 7:09 a.m. on September 25 at the intersection of 87th Street and East Loop 338.

According to the report, 25-year-old Adrian Colon was driving a Ford Maverick southbound on East Loop 338 when he crashed into a silver Mitsubishi Outlander that was making a left turn from northbound East Loop 338 onto 87th Street.

The impact sent the Mitsubishi off the highway, where it struck a power pole.

Colon and the driver of the Mitsubishi, 30-year-old Jasmine Ruvalcaba, were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Ruvalcaba’s son, Ramirez Jr., who was a passenger in the Mitsubishi, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. A  GoFundMe was created to help cover funeral and medical expenses.

No other information was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
