Orange County, TX. – A woman from Orange died in a collision involving three vehicles near Tulane in Orange County on Friday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The wreck happened on Highway 62, just before 8 a.m. November 7.

DPS said Sonia Dea Lejeune, 57, of Orange, was driving a Kia Soul northbound on Highway 62 when she drifted into the oncoming side and collided with a 2007 GMC Sierra and a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado.

Dea Lejeune was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Sierra, Raul Ruiz, 55, of Sulphur, Louisiana, was taken to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Rafe Simmons, 31, of Lumberton, also had non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Christus.

Highway 62 was shut down for over one hour as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
