Tyler, TX – Two adults from Louisiana are dead, and one child is in critical condition following a two-vehicle traffic collision in Tyler on Saturday night.

The deadly collision happened at about 8:20 p.m. on September 15 on Highway 271 near FM 2015.

According to the Tyler Police Department, a pickup truck was traveling southbound on Farm-to-Market 2015, when it pulled out in front of a minivan that was heading northeast on Highway 271, leading to a collision.

Two people who were in the minivan, identified as Tammy Gibney, 62, and Chelsea Askew, 39, both from Louisiana, died at the scene. An 11-year-old child in the backseat of the minivan was severely injured in the incident. The child was airlifted to Dallas Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital, police said, adding that charges on the driver are pending.

The incident remains under investigation.
