Harris County, TX – A female motorcyclist was injured Monday night after being hit by a deputy during a pursuit in north Harris County, according to the authorities.
The accident happened on October 6 near Aldine Bender and Hardy.
Authorities said deputies received a call from a woman who said an armed man had carjacked her Honda sedan, but she had a tracker on the vehicle. Deputies found the vehicle just after 9:00 p.m. near Highway 249 and Antoine Drive.
The suspect, who was driving recklessly, evaded the deputies and was pursued for around 45 minutes.
One K9 deputy attempted to catch up with the chase when he ran a red light and collided with a woman who was riding a motorcycle. The deputy had his lights and sirens on at the time of the accident.
The woman was ejected from the motorcycle. She was taken to a local hospital and is expected to be okay.
The deputy sustained minor injuries and refused to be taken to the hospital. His K9 partner was uninjured in the accident.
The suspect crashed near Airline and Sunnyside. He was arrested and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He is facing multiple felony charges, including aggravated robbery and evading a motor vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation.
