Woman Killed in Wheeler County Accident Wednesday Morning

The accident took place around 8:44 a.m. on August 21 on Interstate 40, approximately 2.7 miles east of Shamrock.

Wheeler County, TX – Texas Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle accident that occurred on Wednesday morning in Wheeler County leaving one person dead.

The accident took place around 8:44 a.m. on August 21 on Interstate 40, approximately 2.7 miles east of Shamrock.

According to the Texas Highway Patrol,  a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica and a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica, were involved in the accident.

Reportedly, the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling westbound in the left lane when it veered into the right lane and struck the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The impact caused the female driver of the 2018 Pacifica to lose control, sending the vehicle sliding off the north side of the freeway, and landing in a ditch. Authorities say the vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest.

Vehicle Overturns Multiple Times in Wheeler County Accident Killing Driver

The driver of the overturned Pacifica was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wheeler County Justice of the Peace. The woman, police say, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected in the incident.

The driver of the  2022 Pacifica and his passenger were not injured in the accident. Authorities said the two were wearing seatbelts.

No additional details regarding the accident were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
