Lampasas, TX. – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified a passenger who died along other four people in the Wednesday morning car crash in Lampasas as Yosilu Gasman Martinez-Lopez, 23, of Copperas Cove.
The fatal crash was reported around 5:45 a.m. on August 14, on US Highway 281 near milepost 406.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2004 Cadillac CTS driven by Jacinto Gudino Duran, 31, of Copperas Cove was traveling south on US 281 when its right rear tire suffered a blowout.
The blowout caused the Cadillac driver to lose control and drift into the northbound lanes where it collided with an oncoming 2024 Kia Telluride driven by Mani Arvind, 45, of Leander.

Both drivers died at the accident scene.
Yosilu Martinez-Lopez, who was a passenger in the Cadillac, was also killed in the accident.
DPS says both passengers of the Kia also died in the tragic crash. They were later identified as Pradeepa Arvind, 40, and Andril Arvind, 17.
An investigation into the fatal collision is ongoing.
