David Pate killed in motorcycle accident on CR 4701 near FM 856 N in New Summerfield

Cherokee County, TX. – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision that happened on Saturday night near New Summerfield in Cherokee County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal collision happened around 11:09 p.m. on CR 4701 just west of FM 856 N.
A GMC pickup truck was traveling west on CR 4701 when it veered across the lanes and struck a motorcycle traveling east.
The motorcyclist, 57-year-old David Alan Pate, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pickup truck driver abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled on foot.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
