El Paso, TX. – A woman died after being hit by a car in an illegal street race in El Paso on Monday night.
According to the El Paso Police Department, the accident happened around 10:47 p.m. at the 1400 block of Mesa Street, near the University of Texas at El Paso.
Police say 2015 Audi S3 was street racing when the driver lost control and hit the woman and two others on the sidewalk.

The woman, 21-year-old Diana Chagah Garcia of Ciudad Juarez, was transported to the hospital where she later died.
The other two pedestrians, a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl, were also taken to hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Audi stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
A black Sentra that was also involved in the street race did not stop at the scene.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
