Rising Star, TX – One person was killed and another was injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision about 1.5 miles from Rising Star, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal collision happened around 2:00 p.m. on August 14 on State Highway 36 near CR 377.
DPS said a 2019 Kenworth T680 towing a flatbed trailer, driven by Noel Enrique Torrez-Carrasco, 31, of Houston, failed to control its speed and rear-ended a 2025 Chevrolet Trax that was stopped, yielding to traffic turning onto County Road 377.
The Chevrolet driver, Earl Morgan Wright, 74, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Stacey Marie Wright, 53, of Rising Star, was taken to Harris Methodist in Fort Worth with non-incapacitating injuries.
The road and weather conditions were clear and dry at the time of the accident.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
