Good Samaritan Killed in San Antonio Pedestrian Accident on Loop 410

San Antonio, Texas – A Good Samaritan was fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday night while helping another motorist with a flat tire in San Antonio’s Westside, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 11:20 p.m., January 6, near the 6900 block of Northwest Loop 410 Access Road.

Police said the 40-year-old man was outside his Ford Explorer getting the car jack from the truck bed to help someone else with a flat tire while his hazard lights were activated.

A red Mitsubishi exited off the main lanes of the access road and the driver diverted his attention looking down as an object fell from his passenger seat onto the floorboard and that’s when the vehicle hit the man.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he later died. He has only been identified as a 40-year-old man.

The Mitsubishi driver was not intoxicated or distracted by his phone during the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A.
