Houston, TX – Houston police are investigating the deadly traffic collision involving a minibike and a vehicle crash that occurred on Lockwood Drive in Houston early Monday.

The deadly collision happened at about 12:20 a.m. on March 24 in the 2300 block of Lockwood Drive.

According to HPD, a 26-year-old man on a minibike was traveling westbound on Suez Street and had just entered the intersection at Lockwood Drive when he was hit by a white GMC Acadia.

The impact pushed the minibike across an unprotected grass median and into northbound lanes of Lockwood while the GMC traveled southbound on Lockwood and struck a tree in the median before coming to a rest on its right side.

The rider was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The identity of the man is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

A front passenger of the Acadia was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Acadia remained at the scene. Police said the driver did not show signs of intoxication and released after being was questioned.

The investigation is underway.
