Ward County, TX – The authorities have released the identities of the person killed and the one injured after two vehicles collided on Highway 115 in Ward County on Saturday evening.

DPS identified the deceased person as Jose De Jesus Salas-Zul, 50, Chaparral, New Mexico. The injured driver was identified as Adrian Lopez Rivera, 38, of Fort Stockton, Texas.

The collision occurred around 6:52 p.m. December 21, on State Highway 115 near mile marker 338.

Salas-Zul was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Highway 115 when he failed to navigate a curve at an unsafe speed, entered the opposite lane, and collided with a 2018 Peterbilt with a trailer driven by Adrian Rivera.

Salas-Zul was pronounced dead at the scene. Rivera was hospitalized with minor injuries

Ward County, TX – One person was killed and another hospitalized after a Saturday evening traffic collision in Ward County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident happened at around 6:52 p.m. December 21, on State Highway 115 near mile marker 338.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Chevrolet was traveling at an unsafe speed and failed to navigate the curve safely, causing the vehicle to enter the wrong side of the road, and collide with the semi.

The Chevy driver was pronounced dead at the scene while the truck driver was transported to Ward Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.

No additional details regarding the mishap were provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
