Ector County, TX. – A man has been arrested in connection with the two-vehicle accident that left an Odessa man dead last Tuesday in Ector County, according to the Texas DPS.

Jose Reyes Pena, 51, was arrested and charged with Manslaughter.

The fatal accident happened around 3:45 a.m., July 1, at the intersection of SH 302 and FM 181.

DPS said Pena was driving a semi-truck southbound on FM 181. He ran a stop sign at 50 miles an hour, failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, and t-boned a Chevrolet truck that was traveling westbound on SH 302.

The Chevrolet driver, 56-year-old Ricky Dale Shaw, of Odessa, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pena was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. He was arrested, charged, and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement on a $250,000 bond and an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.

The DPS is investigating the accident.

Ector County, TX. – One person was killed in a car accident that left another injured in Ector County on Monday morning.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the accident happened at the intersection of SH 302 and FM 181 at around 5:30 a.m.

51-year-old Jose Reyes Pena, of Odessa, was driving a 2020 Kenworth with a trailer southbound on FM 181 when he collided with a westbound 2020 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Ricky Dale Shaw, 56, of Odessa.

Shaw was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

Pena was taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa with minor injuries.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
