Burnet County, TX – A man has been arrested in connection with the head-on collision that left five women dead last month in Burnet County, according to the Texas DPS.

Kody Lane Talley, of Williamson County, was arrested and taken into custody on Tuesday. He is facing five counts of manslaughter.

The fatal collision happened around 6:00 p.m. on July 25 on US 281 near Park Road.

DPS said a 2018 Dodge Ram 4500 pulling a livestock trailer was traveling northbound on the highway when it crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a Chevrolet Malibu.

The force of the impact caused the Ram to continue in an arc and hit a Mercedes SUV that was traveling behind the Malibu.

The SUV overturned and caught on fire. All five people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as Thalia Salinas, Ruby Cruz, Brianna Valadez, Desiree Cervantez, and Jacqueline Velazco.

The occupants of the Dodge Ram and the Chevrolet Malibu sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the accident.

Talley was identified as the Ram driver.

The horses in the trailer survived the accident.

The DPS is investigating the accident.
