Abilene, TX – An Abilene Wylie ISD employee died Tuesday morning after being hit by a bus in Abilene, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident happened on August 19, 2025, at the Abilene Wylie ISD School’s bus barn.

According to the report, Lupe Garcia, 64, was struck by a bus that was traveling at a low rate of speed.

Garcia died in the accident. He was a longtime bus driver for the school district and refereed youth sports around the Abilene area.

No students were on the bus at the time of the accident.

No additional information was available.

The authorities are investigating the accident.
