The fatal accident happened around 8:25 p.m. on August 13 on U.S. Highway 287.

Wichita County, TX – A woman was killed Wednesday night in a two-vehicle accident in Wichita County, about 8 miles west of Wichita Falls, according to the Texas DPS.

DPS said a 2015 Ford Edge was traveling northbound in the left lane when it veered off the roadway into the center median. The driver overcorrected, veered back into the right lane, which was closed due to roadwork, and struck a piece of equipment that was attached to an unoccupied 1988 Kenworth truck.
A passenger in the Ford, Madeleine Blanco-Garcia, 52, from Dumas, was taken to United Regional Health Care System in Wichita Falls, where she later died.
The Ford driver, Yohana Rosalia Linero-Blanco, 35, also from Dumas, was not injured in the accident.
No other details were provided.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
