1 Killed in Amarillo Pedestrian Accident at Lakeside Drive and Triangle Drive
Amarillo, TX. - A man died and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Wednesday morning in Amarillo.
The fatal accident happened at the intersection of Lakeside Drive and Triangle Drive at around 6:20 a.m., according to the Amarillo Police Department.
A Chevrolet pickup pulling a trailer was turning south onto Lakeside Drive and was struck by a northbound pickup. Occupants of the pickup truck and Chevrolet exited the vehicle and stood in the roadway.
A Jeep swerved to avoid the initial crash, but was struck from behind by a Mitsubishi SUV. The impact caused the Jeep to hit three people.
The Jeep and Mitsubishi then struck the rear of a Toyota that had stopped at the scene.
A man was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Two other pedestrians and the driver of the Jeep were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
