1 Killed in Lamesa Pedestrian Accident on US 180 West

Lamesa, TX. - 39-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday morning in Lamesa.

The fatal pedestrian accident occurred in the 2400 block of US 180 West at around 1:13 a.m., according to the Lamesa Police Department.

Meribel Perez was struck by a white Ford Mustang driven by a 27-year-old Aaron Aguilar. The driver did not stop and fled eastbound.

Perez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Aguilar was later located and was arrested and booked into the Dawson County Detention Center. He was charged with failure to render aid resulting in death and intoxicated manslaughter.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
