1 Killed in Liberty County Car Crash on State Highway 99 and FM 686
Liberty County, TX. - A 19-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision on Sunday evening in Liberty County.
The fatal crash occurred at State Highway 99 (Grand Parkway) and FM 686 at around 5:23 p.m., according to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office.
The 19-year-old man was driving a 2025 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck northbound on SH 99 in when he veered into the southbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming 2016 Ford F-250 towing a 2026 Airstream travel trailer driven by 66-year-old Terry Burton.
A piece of the Airstream trailer pierced the windshield and struck the driver of the Chevrolet in the head
The driver of the Chevrolet died at the scene.
The decedent’s 52-year-old mother and an 11-year-old boy in the Chevrolet were taken to HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood Hospital for treatment.
The occupants of the F-250 were not seriously injured.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
