Jadiel Molina Killed in Crash Involving Sheriff’s Vehicle in Harris County

Harris County, TX — A 9-year-old boy who was killed after a Toyota pickup collided with a sheriff's vehicle early Sunday morning has been identified, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The deceased child was identified as 9-year-old Jadiel Molina.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of T.C. Jester Boulevard and Tomlinson Trail in northwest Harris County.

According to investigators, the Toyota and marked sheriff's vehicle collided near the intersection. Molina was riding unrestrained in the front passenger seat of the Toyota and was ejected during the crash.

The deputy performed CPR on Molina at the scene before the child was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The deputy and a mental health clinician who was riding in the sheriff's vehicle were also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The Toyota driver was identified as 52-year-old Javier Gutierrez. HCSO said Gutierrez showed signs of intoxication at the scene. Gutierrez was reportedly charged with driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.

The fatal Harris County crash remains under investigation.
