Tavarshea Sims and Shane Taylor Killed, 2 Injured in Crash on I-35 near Belton
Belton, TX — Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 35 at the Belton-Temple line Thursday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal collision occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on August 20 on northbound I-35 near the 294 mile marker.
DPS said two vehicles, including a Nissan Altima, were driving at a high rate of speed and weaving through slower traffic before the collision. At some point, the Altima made an unsafe lane change across all northbound lanes and struck a Hyundai Elantra.
The Hyundai driver, Tavarshea Daveon Sims, 31, of Killeen, was ejected from the vehicle. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene. His passenger, identified as 39-year-old Shane Demeair Taylor of Cameron, was transported to a hospital, where he later died. The Altima driver and another Hyundai passenger were hospitalized with severe injuries.
No additional information was provided.
The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
