The fatal collision happened around 6:35 p.m. on September 8 on Interstate 40 about one mile west of Vega.

Oldham County, TX – Three Arizona residents were killed Monday evening in a head-on collision in Oldham County, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal collision happened around 6:35 p.m. on September 8 on Interstate 40 about one mile west of Vega.
DPS troopers said 56-year-old Abdinur Hassan of Columbus, Ohio, was driving a 2024 Volvo truck tractor towing a semi-trailer eastbound when he failed to maintain a single lane. He veered onto the improved shoulder and rear-ended a parked and unoccupied Freightliner semi-trailer.
The Volvo then crossed the eastbound lanes, went through the center median, entered the westbound lanes, and collided head-on with a 2022 Honda Pilot.
The Honda driver, 62-year-old Ronald Momyer, and a passenger, 61-year-old Julie Momyer, were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, an 11-year-old boy, was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo and later airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock, where he was pronounced dead.
Hassan was uninjured in the accident. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
