The incident took place in the 4000 block of West Orem Drive at White Heather Drive shortly before 9 a.m.

Houston, TX – The police have arrested and charged a suspect in a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 4100 West Orem Drive at about 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, according to HPD.
HPD officials said the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Rwangamugayo Emmanuel, is charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault in the 209th State District Court.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a male construction worker was working on the sidewalk/entrance of a parking lot of a food store in the 4100 block of W Orem Drive when Rwangamugayo Emmanuel, who was driving a silver Nissan Sentra westbound on West Orem, lost control and drove onto the raised concrete curb.
Emmanuel’s vehicle then hit the male worker, continued on the sidewalk, struck another male construction worker before it struck a light pole, spun around, and crashed into a silver Lexus sedan. The sedan was westbound on West Orem.
The first male was pronounced dead at the scene while the second worker was transported to an area hospital with broken bones.
A passenger in the Lexus sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized.

Houston, TX – A construction worker was killed and another injured in an incident where they were struck by a vehicle at a construction zone in Houston on Thursday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.
The incident took place in the 4000 block of West Orem Drive at White Heather Drive shortly before 9 a.m.
The HPD reported that a Nissan Sentra slammed through barriers at a construction area and hit a worker, who died at the scene.
The Nissan then hit a second worker and struck a utility pole, before colliding with a Lexus.
The second worker who was struck was taken to a hospital with severe injuries.
According to HPD, DUI was suspected to have played a role in the accident and the driver of the Nissan was detained.
The accident is under investigation.
