Howard County, TX – A man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision at a Howard County intersection, according to the Texas DPS.
The deadly accident happened around 3:00 p.m., June 3, at US Highway 87 and Brian Road.
DPS said William F. Smith, 85, of Big Spring, was driving a 2024 Volkswagen Jetta southbound on US 87 and was attempting to turn left onto Brian Road. As he began to turn across the intersection, his car was struck by a northbound 2012 Buick Regal.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The Buick driver was taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center with minor injuries. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
